Child and Adolescent Counseling Services

Desert View’s Healthy Kids Program provides clinical counseling for children who have experienced abuse, incest, molestation, neglect, abandonment, medical trauma, divorce, behavioral issues, and other types of trauma. We focus on improving the psychological well-being of young children and strive to help them sustain healthy relationships and improve family resiliency.

Our trained clinicians work with children ages 3-12, (with numerous child counseling modalities) and their caregivers.

We offer the following services for children including Experiential Play Therapy, Adolescent TheraPLAY and Caregiver Psycho-Education.

Adolescents (13 to 19)

The adolescent years between 13 and 19 are a transitional stage from childhood to adulthood. The staff at Desert View recognize how important this stage of life is. The physical and psychological changes that adolescents face can both be a time of disorientation and discovery. This transitional period is where children start focusing on becoming more independent and establishing their own identity. Unfortunately, this sometimes means that adolescents engage in risky behavior such as experimenting with drugs, alcohol or sexual promiscuity.

We live in an increasingly complex world that challenges us every day with a wide range of disturbing issues. It can be very difficult for children to understand these challenges and many adults aren’t trained to explain them. We are committed to working with child and family until we find the right answers.
