Family Support Services

Family Support Services

  • Family Support Services is a multifaceted, short-term, community-based program.
  •
  • The program intends to help the family by setting goals to meet their children’s basic needs, provide parenting support, and prevent future maltreatment.
  • FSS is a goal-oriented program designed to assist families with CYFD (Children’s Youth & Families Department) involvement. We connect families to local resources such as counseling, housing, medical, financial assistance, and more.

Eligibility

  • Families who have substantiated or unsubstantiated cases of abuse or neglect and are in need of support and case management.
  • If a family needs a longer-term service, more intensive service or has higher safety concerns, we can transfer from FSS to IFSS with CYFD involvement in that decision.

Duration and Referral

  • FSS works with families from 6 weeks to 6 months depending on needs and progress on goals.
  • CYFD referrals will be a priority, but FSS can also receive referrals from (JJS) Juvenile Justice Services , Licensed childcare facilities, and NM Pre-K providers.
NEW:
  • Referrals are NOW accepted from any community partners, CYFD investigations, or self-referral. While services available may vary based on the community served, FSS facilitators work directly with families to determine the best plan of action for their needs (which may include but is not limited to: food and housing assistance, emergency funding, utility access, transportation, home-visiting, and much more).
