Billing and Paying Your Bill

Accepted Insurance

Desert View Family Services & Counseling welcomes all patients and participates in various health plans. However, please note that Desert View may not be included in all plans offered by every health insurance company. We recommend that you contact your health insurance provider to verify whether your care at Desert View will be covered.

If Desert View is not contracted with your insurance company, you can still receive care. We will submit a bill to your insurance as a courtesy, but any amounts that your insurance does not cover will be your responsibility.

Patients with PPO, POS, or EPO plans have the flexibility to see healthcare providers and hospitals outside their preferred network, but they may incur higher out-of-pocket costs. Conversely, patients with HMO plans may be limited to in-network providers. Seeking care outside the HMO network could result in loss of coverage and leave the patient responsible for the full cost.

To determine your individual coverage, please contact your insurance carrier. You can find a phone number for your insurer on your insurance card. Below is a list of some of the most commonly accepted health insurance plans and government programs in which Desert View participates.

More Billing Questions

Frequently Asked Billing Question

Who will bill my insurance?                                  Desert View Family Services and Counseling will first bill your health insurance company on your behalf.

If the bill remains unpaid because the insurance company states that you no longer have health insurance coverage?

We will send you a bill directly.

If you have changed insurance companies, please contact us as soon as possible so we can update the information on file and bill the account correctly.

If you received a billing statement that only shows total charges, you can request an itemized bill. To obtain a copy of an itemized statement, please contact Teri at 505-326-7878 ext. 113.

If you hold coverage under both your insurance and your spouse’s insurance, and your spouse’s deductible is lower, can we bill their insurance instead? Unfortunately, due to a provision called coordination of benefits, we are required to bill the insurance that is considered primary for you. Any health insurance for which you are the primary holder must be billed before any other insurance.

How much will I need to pay? Refer to your insurance policy, which should explain your benefits. The contract is between you and your insurance agency.

If you do not have insurance, we have options available, and we encourage you to visit our financial arrangements page.

To determine if you qualify for payment assistance, please contact our office between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, or call 505.326-7878.
